From 4 April 2025 to 7 October 2025, there will be an extraordinary exhibition at the Groeninge Museum in Bruges.

The Public Library of Bruges is presenting an exhibition of never-before-seen medieval books of hours, paintings and other objects from various collections.

What is special are the small books full of beautiful miniatures that were more precious than jewels to medieval people. Expressions of pride but also sources of comfort and hope and powerful tools against calamity and disease. Today, they still show us the beauty but also provide a glimpse into the thought processes of our ancestors.

With these small works but great in content, an almost intimate relationship is created with the viewer. You get very close to the world of the work’s former owners and become overwhelmed by the beauty that continues page after page.
